A note from a fan

Thank you for the very entertaining and insightful forum you have here. I've been learning a lot.

If you will indulge an outsider's opinion on basketball officials, here it is:

I really enjoy the fact that basketball is played, coached, and officiated by human beings who make mistakes.

One official calls a "T" when his partner would not? GREAT! This is what adds another dimension of the game-- the human interaction.

A seasoned and experienced official makes an honest mistake and blows a call? WONDERFUL! This adds to the debate and excitement after the game.

A normally efficient timekeeper is slow to start the clock at the end of a close game, and it is later discovered this could have affected the outcome? BRING IT ON!

What I am saying is that if we could replace you with computers who called every play in every game perfectly, the game would lose a dimension.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO!

We add a LOT of debate and excitment to the game!

Thanks LKP.

That might be an occasional result, but is not an aim nor intent.

In every game I've ever worked OR watched, officials' calls created debate and excitment.

You must work in empty gyms.
