Must be a MHSAA thing -all undershirts need to be hemmed or tem to wear under jersey

No -- that's national (or at least more widespread).

But, it's not a T to the coach (or anyone else). Just have the player remove the undershirt (but not in sight of the floor if the jersey is also removed) before they can play.
