NBA Socks in NCAA
Had the referee in my game last night make the players wearing NBA socks remove them.
I was wondering if that was correct/incorrect and what the rule reference is? Thanks |
There are no rules concerning socks. They can wear any socks they want as long as they are safe. So no spikes.

One logo per sock. So, if the logo wason the inside and the outside of the leg, it needs to be covered.
|
I love this rule. All local, small college womens officials have players with two logo socks roll them down to play, local mens officials don't even know it's a rule.
|
Why do you love this rule? Does it change the fundamentals of the basketball game?

The reason we enforce it is because we are told to by assignors. I like doing post season games, so I do what I am told.:D

At the risk of ushering in another call for different font colors and/or "/sarcasm" comments, I think BL was being sarcastic.

NCAA 3-8-4 is a "Women only" rule, but that refers to memorial or commemorative patches. 3-8-1 says that one logo can be on every item of apparel except the undershirt. To me, that means one logo per sock, not per leg. And there's nothing in the casebook under Rule 3 that I can see.

Since there is no NBA right now, it there really an NBA logo or is that just some random colors on the sock?

I also do what I'm told to do. I might not like it, but I do it. My Catholic middle school assigner tells us that if we are ever "caught" not enforcing "Fashion Police" rules, then he is not paying us for that game. Does he mean it? I don't know, but I don't want to end up being a "test case". |
