The other issue is that one "manufacturers logo" is allowed. Some interpret this as Nike and Addidas are manufacturers and the NBA is not.

A "marketing" logo (or whatever you'd call the NBA logo) is not allowed. |

What about decorative patterns? If it is not a "manufacturers logo", I think it would just be part of the sock's artistic design. |

Why would anyone care? I thought the rule when the NF had it was stupid, why in the world would anyone care what sock or color sock someone used?

As any official, I do what the rule book says. Off the record, I feel that this should be something between the NCAA and the institutions. If you want to fix the issue, start fining the schools (like the NFL). I guarantee this issue ends overnight (since most schools provide 100% of all uniform and shoes). It is a much harder fix at the lower levels though.

If I'm working a travel or wreck league game, a player could wear #88 with an untucked jersey and a paisley undershirt for all I care. However, if my board assigns me to the game, I enforce what I'm told to enforce (the NFHS rules). It has caused some strife with some middle school players and coaches, but it would help if everyone did their jobs. |
