Yankees clinched last night and the Orioles broke my heart with the 3-run homer in the bottom of the 9th and the 1-run homer in the bottom of the 10th. Guess Chuck is happy.

Not yet. Magic number is still 2.

Interesting "Did You Know" on ESPN this morning. Yankees and Sox have finished 1-2 for six consecutive seasons. That's never happened before in any of the 4 major sports. Lakers and Blazers finished 1-2 five straight times in the '80s. Depressing, but interesting.

Now that is September 24th, I think Manny and Pedro are making plans to travel to Oakland, then New York, then Chicago :D

No, but if we get a Cubs/Sox Series, then somebody has to win it (barring a player's strike right before Game 7  )

Just call me Mr. Typoo. [/B][/QUOTE]Actually, Mr. Typhoon, that would be an interesting series. That matchup would probably be good for baseball,as well as the fans. Wouldn't mind seeing that one myself.

Of course,I would have to become a temporary Cub's fan,though. :D

As happy as I am that they made it in, it was very silly to see them out on the field celebrating and holding up the #1 signal. Number 1? Maybe they forgot that they didn't win the division.

And that's essentially why I don't really like the wild card in the first place (no pun intended). It used to be that in order to make the post-season, you actually had to win something; either your league or your division. Even tho it has been good for the Sox (who have been the AL wild card team three times since its inception in '95), the wild card has removed the one thing that had differentiated it from the post-seasons of the other major sports -- the necessity of winning your division to advance.

Just my own opinion, of course.

Yeah ,but the fact is the BoSox are in and my Mariners aren't...that sucks...but at least the Mariners have good "field Presence" - that counts for something, doesn't it???
