As soon as Kansas either loses or wins the tourney, Doherty will be fired and Williams will take the Tar Heel job, a position he should have taken 3 years ago. That's the rumor in Carolina.

mick, I thought for sure I had jinxed your Spartans.

The AD has been meeting with the players, both collectively and individually over the past two days. Rumors are rampant of mass transfers.

As for Williams, he is less than enamored with the new Kansas AD. When he decided to stay 3 years ago, he had two freshmen on the team. Those freshmen are now seniors.

I question the situation simply because Doh was Roy's asst. at Kansas. The whole thing is a little sticky.

Exclamation As I said earlier......

you are the one that is there. I am sure you here more than most of us around the country do. But I always hear that he will get one more year. But North Carolina folks are like UCLA folks, they do not like the NIT.

Peace

Well, half of the deed is done. Doherty resigned on Tuesday evening. He obviously felt like it was time to end it, for the good of the program. Tough time for him, I'm sure.

I guess well have to wait a week or two for the other shoe to fall. But most here in NC don't expect Roy Williams to turn the job down this time.

Tony,
Your information is even better than Vitale's! He only announced this news today. You beat the whole ESPN crew on this one.

Don't be so sure about Williams taking the job at UNC just quite yet, I was watching a program on FOX Sports, and Williams appeared as a guest on the program, and clearly stated that he is enjoying being the coach at Kansas, and would not waiver from that position.
I am going to going to say that Roy Williams is staying put at Kansas. I do not believe that Roy Williams is leaving Kansas.

Tony nailed it!!!

Tony,

I thought there was no way this would happen this year. But you got it right damn near perfectly.

It seems the issue was not coaching. It seemed like he had player's complaining with their parents. What is up with that? What was he doing or saying to them? Are we going to here about things Bobby Knight was accused of in Indiana?

Peace

Both of you are right on the UNC situation, you get parents involved, and you might as well kiss your coaching career at that particular school good by. For some reason, both at the high school level and college level, parents have that controlling nature that surfaces everytime the seas get a little rough.

Of course, that's what he said, his team is still playing. Remember the last time a big-time coach said he was leaving after the tournament? Bill Frieder at Michigan. What happened? Bye-bye Bill, and Steve Fisher runs the table.

I don't know if he'll go to UNC or not. My only point is that for now, in public, he still has to say "all the right things".

Different sport, but even the 49ers waited until after recruiting season to hire Erickson away from Washington State. You think Erickson told any of his recruits that he'd be taking the Niners job?

Chuck

You bring a very very valid point to the table Chuck. We will have to wait and see what happens after the Final Four is all over with.
