Fed Vs IAABO mechanics
So in Ontario we are switching from Federation to IAABO mechanics.
How do they differ? I'm not well versed with the IAABO mechanics. Any breakdown on the mechanical differences would be most appreciated. Tks. |

Not too sure, IAABO is all I know.
We follow the NFHS rule set, the signals are the same, but I believe our floor mechanics differ from NFHS. - Calling official goes opposite (3 person) - L goes tableside after administering the FT - T has the 3 in the corner - Long switch when next throwin is on endline in transition When you receive your book it will have diagrams for 2 & 3 person floor mechanics in all situations.

They publish an all-in-one rulebook. It has a directory, rule book, case book, 2 man mechanics manual, 3 man mechanics manual, and comprehensive diagrams for positioning.

This is not necessarily true in 2-whistle games. The officials will always switch after a foul is called, but the calling official's position may actually be table-side after the switch.
Example: You are the Trail official table-side. This means you are responsible for everything outside the free throw lane on the table side of the court. So you call a foul against the defense on "your" side of the court, near the endline. You switch, becoming the new Lead official, and the designated spot for the throw-in is on the table side of the court. So you are the new table-side Lead. Even if there are free throws to be attempted, if you called the foul from the Trail position, you will end up table-side because you will switch to become the new Lead, and the Lead is always table-side for free throws. |

Good catch, the L will go tableside after administering FTs even if they called the foul as tableside T.
