What is the next option if the coach continued to insist that the player return to the lockerroom? BTW: the coach WAS game management in this situation.

This situation is one of the main reasons that the head coach should not be allowed to be the game management for the game. There should be someone else designated for this role. The varsity coach can be G.M. for freshman game and the freshman coach for varsity game. The same person should not be wearing the both hats at the same time.
