Gotta relate a couple of things that happened to me on my lastvtwo travel games...
Last week, head out to eastern Utah ref the games and head back towards civilization. Stop in a town for dinner and on the way out of town we start to notice the car losing power. We finally make it to the summit of the road thinking that once we get on the downward side the car will run better. Oh no... We lose power and coast down the hill for nearly 5 miles to the net rest stop. My wife was thrilled when she had to come pick us up... We get home at 1 am. Last night, the road trip we all love to the western desert of Utah. We were driving along coming back from the game on the infamous dirt roads, (Glad I was not driving) the road looked like it was curving left but actually curved right. My partner slammed on the brakes and we ended up in the soft shoulder. 25 minutes later after digging out of the sandy stuff, we are back on the dirt road again. 25 miles later we heard this goofy sound we stop cant figure out what is making the hitting sound. Go another 200 yards and still making sound. I stop and we are losing air from the right rear tire. We picked up about a 3 inch nail. So here were are 10000 miles from nowhere changing a tire on dirt road in the middle of the Utah Desert. We get home at 12:45 am... We see 450 miles of Utah all the way to the Nevada Border. (At least we did not hit a cow!) What we do in the name of Basketball... Cant wait. I have 2 more games this week, but they are both 3 miles from home... |

Speaking of road trips, I recently drove 125 miles for a game. What is the longest you guys have driven? I'm talking high school.

Kelvin's game is approximately 250 mi (one way) for a HS game. I'm driving 420 mi (one way) to work a tournament (JC) this weekend.

BTW, you weren't in Wendover were you? For those on the board that don't know Wendover is a small town on the Utah/Nevada border. Half of the town is in Nevada and the other half lies in Utah. Apparently, one of the two high schools, West Wendover, plays in the Eastern Nevada league and the other plays in Utah. There is a current debate about this town making a decision to be part of one state or the other. This is actually not all that uncommon out West as I'm sure some of the officials from Idaho, Arizona, etc. can confirm. In fact, there are several California teams that play in the Nevada leagues and compete for Nevada state championships because their California "neighbors" are simply too far away. South Lake Tahoe is one such example. |

We were in Trout Creek. We did take the Wendover Way home... We found out that going through Wendover or going past the Intermountain Power Plant, it's 220 or so miles not matter which way you go ( One way) If most accidents occur within 10 miles of my home Drake, Stripes, and Kelly all better move... come to think about so should I. |

![]() Living in a metro area of close to 5 million people makes any trip a nightmare. Taking the train is no better. First regular game of the year I made it to the gym as the game was about to start. One of the officials from the Frosh game worked in my place until I could dress and stretch. The train was WELL over an hour late because the automatic switching did not work. The train had to travel at 5mph and stop at every switch so it could be thrown by hand. |
