Elbow on the floor.
District Final last night.
A40, on knees, grabs the scrum ball securely. Slight forward momentum caused her to continue to the floor where her elbow stopped the rest of her body from falling. She ended down with two knees and one elbow ,and looked to pass. She's a good athlete. Someone yelled that I should open a rule book. [Edited by mick on Nov 23rd, 2002 at 11:34 AM] |

Hey Mick,
At least they only told you to open it. They told me the other night to read it, but since I was a product of their school district, I never got that far. Of course 11th grade was the three best years of high school! |

I had a coach last night who yelled three different times wanting:
- a backcourt call when there was no team control - a technical foul because a player touched the netting - free throws on a team control foul I felt like saying read a rulebook. |

That's like the coach screaming at me for a violation, when the opposing team was trying to inbound the ball against a press and the girl stepped on the 6" wide OOB line.
not only didn't he stop screaming, profanity found its way into his tirade......... so did a T

Does anyone else think that many of these coaches actually do know the rule, but scream when they are obviously incorrect anyway as an attempt to just get their team the ball?
For example, the coach probably knows you can stand on the 8" OOB line during a throw-in, but he may believe that if he starts pointing and yelling the official will have a momentary lapse and call a violation. He may even have been successful with this tactic before. And hey, if he doesn't get the call, no big deal. He most likely didn't get any penalty for being wrong. So why not try? I call this trying to take advantage of a weak official. And sadly, I have seen it work. |

Congratulations!
Worked a district final and you're not even bragging about it? If my team gets to the district final, I'll be writing a couple of posts per hour to get you guys to pat me on the back. It wasn't that Walkerville team was it???
