One Question NCAA/NFHS, One Situation
Question:
In high school there is no team control on a throw in. Team A is throwing the ball in from their front court and a kid throws it to his team mate and it hits off his hand and goes into the back court. He goes to retrieve the ball in the back court, we have nothing.
Now in NCAA there is team control during a throw in. Use the same situation as above. Do you have a backcourt violation? Why or why not? I'm leaning towards no backcourt violation but I want to know the exact wording. Thanks
Situation:
Had a game last night., 4th quarter, Team A is down 55-56 with a throw-in under their basket. Girl catches the ball on the wing and gets fouled as time expires, partner and I double up on the whistle as it was a no doubter. 00.0 on the clock, we shoot the free throws with the lane cleared. Girl shoots the first free throw and its just short. Coach from team A wants a time out, we granted it asking our self why would he want to ice his own shooter because what else are they going to talk about in the huddle other than the missed free throw. My question is can we actually grant that t.o? I'm assuming that we could but if anyone has a rule reference it would be great. Thanks!
