In my neck of the woods, each scholastic conference or AAU tournament or youth league chooses its own assignors. The assignor is free to use whomever he/she wants, although our IAABO board obviously lobbies for assignors to use officials from our board.

I stand corrected. It's basically a state decision re: method of assigning.

IAABO is still recognized as the official rules interpreting body by some states though, correct?
