I'm Already Wearing Briefs ...

"Some Basketball Rules Coaches, Players And Fans Should Know"

"The Most Misunderstood Basketball Rules"

Anybody can sue anybody for anything. Does the Bangor Daily News have deep pockets?

You'd be interested to know that some of the situations that are published in our referee's weekly newsletter from our state administrator are copied verbatim from your "Most Misunderstood Basketball Rules" document.

I laughed the first time I noticed this.

Billy --

That joke failed to be funny well before the first time you posted it, and it hasn't improved in the approximately 100 times you've tried it here.

Back before the gap, the author was one of the instructors in my officiating class.

Smile Most Misunderstood Rules

As the "original" author of this title, I feel compelled to say that the #1 commonly misunderstood rule is definitely the 3 seconds in the key rule, followed closely by the restrictions on a designated thrower-in (not travelling), and then either sliding/momentum after a loose ball (not necessarily travelling). All associations/groups should spend a reasonable amount of time teaching the nuances of these types of rules/situations.
My MMR Sheet was deliberately short so as to fit on one page one side.
BTW Billy Mac has done a great job of expanding on what I created.

Concerning the fact the this is the 1st year for WIAA to have the running clock for basketball, it does not surprise me that fans are yelling for the clock to stop once the running clock does go into effect during a game.

The only reason why I know about the running clock is because I make an effort to learn the rules, & decided I'd check the WIAA Handbook to see about if there's any state-specific rules changes. This same method was how I knew about the addition of the 35 sec. shot clock for boys last year.

The general game watching populace doesn't even want to make an effort to find out what the rules are, just want to complain about what they see by their understanding.

Can I not explain the reasoning behind my wife's posts?

I was clarifying information for others so they knew what was going on.

Both my wife & I do what we can to keep up to date on the new rules/regs so that we don't have to ask as many questions as the regular fans do.

The pronoun you're groping for is "all y'all."
