Bunch of idiots in Maine, evidently.

I wish people would understand the new running clock rule here & not scream at the timers to stop the clock. *shakes head*

General public don't know how to look up information

Concerning the fact the this is the 1st year for WIAA to have the running clock for basketball, it does not surprise me that fans are yelling for the clock to stop once the running clock does go into effect during a game.

The only reason why I know about the running clock is because I make an effort to learn the rules, & decided I'd check the WIAA Handbook to see about if there's any state-specific rules changes. This same method was how I knew about the addition of the 35 sec. shot clock for boys last year.

The general game watching populace doesn't even want to make an effort to find out what the rules are, just want to complain about what they see by their understanding.

Do you two not talk to each other outside of this forum?

The pronoun you're groping for is "all y'all." ;)

I'm not a southerner, but I am multilingual. :)

Nope. No groping. I got the right one.

I always like to "educate" fans when I am attending games that I have no affiliation with either coaching or officiating.
Some of the more frequent lessons on the "Syllabus"
Fans - "That's a reach!!"
Me - " Good thing reaching isn't a foul"

Fans - "Three Seconds"
Me - "On your player or theirs?"

Fans - " How can you call that"
Me - "They just put their lips together and blow"

Always fun, and usually creates a lot of leg room and space around me!

Can I not explain the reasoning behind my wife's posts?

I was clarifying information for others so they knew what was going on.

Both my wife & I do what we can to keep up to date on the new rules/regs so that we don't have to ask as many questions as the regular fans do.

Tourist: There sure are a lot of strange people here in Maine.

Mainer: Ayuh. But most of 'em are gone by Labor Day.

Yessuh! Gap, I'd tip my Moxie bottle to you (if I could stand drinking the stuff).

It's not that bad when you're drinking it, it's the after taste that kills you!

Anyways, spent my first night up in the stands tonight to actually watch a game in a while. Didn't have to do an evaluation or anything either! Since my mind wasn't occupied I really had a chance to hear the fans for the first time in a long while, and it almost seems like they've gotten worse to me. I had to fight the urge to correct them on everything. It was tough at some points but I managed to bite my tongue :D

Tourist: How do you get to East Millinocket?
Mainer: You can't get there from here.
