Tip off violation

I had first last night, In a girls jv game last night on the opening tip we had tall girl jumping agianst a girl that was thick, (i will be nice). I'm the U in the game, the R tosses the ball and the (thick) girl jumps into the tall girl and almost knocks her down, I whistle and call a foul on the thick girl. Has anyone ever had this happen.

Never. Interesting, though.

If the thick jumped straight up, I have nothing but tall on the floor.
If thick jumped into the tall, I would have a foul on thick. Tall to inbounds ball. Thick gets P.A.

Pathetic that he coaches/allows his players to do this.

He'll let them do it until it gets called repeatedly or warned to tell his team to stop. I've, unfortunately, known coaches like this. It strains the game and thats BS in my book.

Cazzie Russel was jumping center for the Univ. of Mich. against the Univ. of Kentucky in a NCAA tournament game (back in the mid-1960's) to start an OT period and was called for the same type of foul.

I've had it happen a number of times

And for those of us who called games before the arrow, you would see plays like this several times a season. A gets tied up by B, A gets mad at B, so he jumps in and pushes B on the tap, or fouls him/her in some other way.

I had a kid get tied up years ago in a game, and on the jump ball, he stepped on the other jumpers foot as the ball went up. Needless to say we found out why the other player didn't jump and he got 2 FT's and the ball.
