Here in the "Land of Steady Habits", our regular season assignments (number, and level, of games) are based on ratings from fellow officials. The state tournament game assignments are based on votes from coaches.

The coaches actually do a pretty good job of selecting officials. Last season we probably had about thirty officials selected for the state tournament, and twenty-nine of the thirty were considered our best officials.
