Depends on the area. I typically don't see a team more than twice a season; but that's not set in stone. There's no official standard. In two seasons in my current association, I have yet to work at the school nearest me. There are some schools I've been to 4 or 5 times in that span.

See You Later Alligator ...

This is my 30th year. We have 70 schools in our assignment area, most with both a boys, and a girls, program. I've been to one school 35 times. I've been to another school once. Go figure.

As many times as I am assigned. In my area we work for different people and different places so there is no way to cap a number when you might see a team though tournaments, shootouts, non-conference games and even scrimmages.

Peace

We have a limit

In our association (and this may be WA State driven) we can only do a team three times in their gym per year (at the varsity level).

Shoot, I'm doing one team's first 3 games this season. Just confirmed it was that team's first 3 games b/c I work 2 rows over from one of the parents.

Generally, where I have been, 3 home games per team is the max. But, with fill-ins, etc, you could see more of a particular team. I had a team for 4 home games and 1 road game last year. That is unusual. My last season in VT, I had a team 4 times at home [90 miles away] and once on the road [13 miles away].

In our local kids rec league, if we have a "problem coach", I get assigned to all his (or her) games. Either the problem stops quickly, or the coach gets to spend all their game time at home watching Brady Bunch reruns.

I'll give you ten to one BillyMac has no problem finding a pic file for this.

In Kentucky, coaches are sent a rating sheet before the season and they pick the officials they would like on their games, so if you are rated high by that team, you could have them a bunch, but if your liked by a lot of coaches then you usually get spread around and it's not a problem. Not really a set number, would like to see one though. I would think 4 or 5 times in a year would be a nice MAX. That would be about once a month. Then tournaments wouldn't count of course!

Different conferences have different rules in this neck of the woods. Some conferences don't govern at all the number of times an official sees a team while others dictate what officials the team(s) like to see and how often they can been seen by a team. It's a complicated system sometimes and other times you can be seen by the same team every night.

When In Rome.....

As has been stated, I go where assigned.

Typically though, our Assignor keeps an eye on it, and I haven't been assigned more than three games a season with the same team at the V level. Maybe once or twice during scrimmages too. But, we have a large area and a good many teams (private and public) so it's not too difficult to spread the wealth.

A few years back when I was working in Des Moines, I had a boys sophomore team three games in a row. Road, Home, Road.
First game, they stole the tip and I didn't catch it.
Second game, I caught it.
Third game, they didn't do it. But I did get to officiate my first fight in that third game.
