shoe recommendations

First post. Look forward to using this forum. I'm in serious need for some good shoes. Need all black, no patent leather. Also on a budget. Anybody got a suggestion?

Yes. Don't buy cheap shoes.

Use the search tool. You'll find at least 347.86 threads on referee shoes. That's 734.02 threads in metric.

First, welcome to the Forum!

We've had these discussions on the Forum many, many, many times before and my advice is this - what court shoe you are most comfortable with depends very much on your body type (large, small, tall, skinny) feet, (flat, arch, pronation, etc.) how many games you do, types of courts, etc.

You will get a lot of people telling you "these all black shoes look good." How a shoe looks is not as important as how they feel - and how they make you feel.

I am 5'8" (on a good day) and an overpronator. I am a runner and I wear Asics to run in because they are for my specific foot make-up and after much trial and error these are best for me.

I tried a great many court shoes (NB, Nike, Addidas, etc.) and had foot and leg problems several times. Last year I bought a pair of patent leather Official's Choice shoes. Unfortunately, when trying them on, I didn't realize their severe arch. First couple of times I used them I was in terrible PAIN! Then, I went to an Orthopedic Surgeon who provided me custom made inserts and now I love the OC's and my feet never felt better!

Go get your feet checked at a Dr. or a store that knows what they're doing and know what type of shoe you need for your feet.

Once you find a shoe you like, buy a few pair and rotate your stock.

Good luck and have a great year!
