Reminds me of an episode of Cops where this lady called and complained that the kids were playing basketball in the court. She just didn't like them being out there. By the end of the call, the deputy was playing basketball with the kids.

Consider the alternative. Taking drugs doesn't make much noise. Our local kids rec league has two "unofficial" slogans - "Shoot hoops, not heroin" and "Do sports, not drugs".

And playing basketball does not steal from your house or rob your car either.

I agree with the person in the article that said they should move to a rural area where they will not have to worry about neighbors.

Follow up
Today's paper had a follow up story on this. Apparently, the neighbors are so frustrated with the kids shooting hoops they've decided to sell their house and move away. They said that if it doesn't sell, they would consider suing the kids' parents for "harassment".

I can just see them asking a realtor to take this listing:

"We want to sell our house".
"Why do you want to sell?"
"Our neighbors make too much noise."
"Yeah, I'll get right on that."
