Protecting the Shooter

This play needed a whistle. The center did not get an angle or do a good job protecting the shooter.

Look like it was a bump from behind as the shooter went up for the shot. Not much of a bump but when in the air I think the bump should be called. At least on a jump shot where the shooter gets turned like that.

Question

Since there was no contact during a live ball, are you saying there should have been a technical called for some reason?

It looks to me like he flopped trying to get the official to call the foul.

We tend to focus on the defender in front as opposed to the defender coming from behind. Very easy to miss the contact in that situation.

In honor of the upcoming world cup, I believe if this were a soccer/footbal/futbol match the referee would be using the "get up, play on" signal

PS INDY blue ink man, BLUE INK!!!

+1

There may or may not have been contact from behind, it's hard to tell by the video; certainly too difficult to say definitively that there should have been a whistle.

It looks to me like the shooter feels the defender brush by him from behind and tries to fall and draw a whistle. I probably would have passed on it as well from what I see.
