Mixed emotions
Had a game today where the coach got tossed. My partner Td a coach just about every game this weekend. The coach was warned by me after he argued a call & I told my partner. My partner issued a T not long after my warning in the first half. His team was getting clobbered. Early in the 2nd half, after being reminded to keep his seat, sure enough he popped up and popped off and my partner gave him his walking papers. His team trailed by about 12-14 at the time. Once the guy left, it was like a different team out there. The ACs did a great job with the kids and they tied it with less than 2 minutes left and went on to win the game. The other coach had a kid going 1 on 5 down the stretch and he took bad shot after bad shot and shot his team out of the lead.
The good news is that tournament rules meant he was gone the rest of the day and the ACs ran the show after that.

When I read the title of the thread (Mixed emotions), I thought you were going to say that your mother-in-law had driven your new sports car off a cliff.
Ba-da-boom. I'll be here all week.

You might wish you weren't. My mother-in-law passed away a few months ago.

The game lasted almost 2 hours. 4 kids fouled out. 2 kids got technicals. It was an ugly game.

It's just part of the J-O-B. Some games are just like that. You guys did your job, right? That's what you should walk away with.

Gap,
You issued the warning, your partner backed it up. Then your partner tossed the HC for not adhering to the seatbelt rule from the 1st T. Maybe he was a little quick with the heave-ho, but he applied the rule. Did your partner ever reside in Nevada? As to your mixed emotions, there's another chance tomorrow. |

i agree, sounds like you and your partner were spot on...
Of course, we all hope that the following does NOT happen... I can hear the little hamster in "genius" coach's brain now... ahem. "well, I got t'd and tossed to b/c i stood up for my kids, and it worked. I got tossed, the kids played inspired b/c they realized i got screwed, and came back to win." blah blah blah... |

As for mixed emotions, a lot of us get that when we have to take care of business. It's not that we have didn't want to take care of it, but we (I) just don't like to it get to that point. Mixed emotions don't equal regrets.

I had no problem with the fact that my partner gave both Ts. One was in each half, so there was no machine gun effect. He let me know the guy was on his feet & he told him to sit down. The ACs came to us at halftime indicating they would hold him in his seat if necessary. I was glancing over there when I had the opportunity, but not at the expense of watching the action on the court. My partner saw him first, so he had the honors.
