In the effort to be brief and succinct, I failed to communicate. There was a foul called on the play, evidently an "and 1" scenario. Whether I would have called the foul really would be a HTBT situation. The point to be made is that it should no way have been "and 1" as the contact was clearly before the ball was even caught, much less shot. Just because the player was intending to shoot (dunk) the ball on the alley oop cannot justify granting a basket and free-throw on the play.
I think it would be easier not to call anything in that situation than getting it right if you did. Not sure it would improve the game in relation to the coach, other players, or fans by calling the foul, waving the basket, and giving the ball out of bounds (assuming no bonus) after such a fine athletic, motivating display. |

I got nothng on this play other than a "o no he diint"...."o yes he did". Looks like he was trying to make some possible taunting eye contact with the kid he just posterized. Good thing his team mates got to him. For the defenders sake, I hope all the cameramen were behind him so they couldn't see his face.
