Free Throw Situation

A1 is shooting a 1&1 and has been received the ball from T. B1 steps in to change space. T put hand out for delay violation. A1 shoots an air ball. Is this a double violation alternating position?? Or A1 get another shot. Their was not any disconcerning. Thanks

Fed used to do it that way; then they did it just for the first FT of a set; then they got rid of the stupid mechanic.

Gotcha...As long as I can remember watching games, it's always been the L. I'm only 22 though.

It used to be that way; then they changed, letting the L administer the last free throw. Now the L administers all the free throws.

Notice that under FIBA a violation by the free throw shooter prevails over any other violation:
Quote:
43.3.1 If a violation is committed by a free-throw shooter:
• Point, if made, shall not count.
• Any other player’s violation, which occurs immediately before, at approximately the same time as, or after the violation committed by the free-throw shooter, shall be disregarded.
Then there's the rule many of you won't like : violations by any other players than the shooter are disregarded if the throw is successful.

Ciao

Funny to watch some of the ESPN Classic games where the T administers the free throw. Also, there would line up 8 players in the lane. Not sure how the top two spots were filled??? Glad to see we change how we used to do it.

Because this play took place in 1981.
