We get in trouble for calling what we know in our minds. It sounds like your partner bailed you out. I wouldn't even question him on it if you didn't see the contact well enough to make the call yourself.

You can only call what you see. Anything else you're just going to be guessing.

Thanks Snaq. Yeah, he did help me a bunch with that one. He was probably in the same boat. Knew it was coming but couldn't see it actually happening because he was more concerned for my well-being than the player's.

Yet another great official to work with tonight. Two nights in a row, I'm feeling great.

You can't KNOW or be SURE that he committed an intentional foul if you didn't SEE it.

This goes for everything that you call or don't call in a game. If you don't actually see it, how can you know it happened?

The player was acting all wild and out of control for the previous minutes up until this point, even took out his anger on a player by lightly shoving him. I gave him a warning for that, saying to chill out and knock it off. So it was one of those "you know it's going to happen, just a matter of when" moments.
...
After seeing this I could no longer take this post seriously.

Well, actually I stopped doing that a while ago. But I still like to read the scenarios. But this one is bull. He's making it up just to get a rise out of the forum.

Everything....

In just a little less than 2 months, you have had more things happen to you than in most official's careers.

Doesn't happen that way....

Had nothing to do with trust. I did trust him to make the right call, and in his mind it was the right call, so I trusted him with that. I just simply asked because I saw the elbows come up and elbows don't come up in this kind of situation without at least an intention act. But I told him that I didn't see it because I fell so I trusted his call.

That's the thing, the tape may very well show the player pulled the elbows down before contact.
I'm still curious how you were moving when you fell. Were you backpedaling?

You obviously never played the game. Elbows up in a basketball game...that never happens ....except on most every play for some reason or another.
