Jump ball to start the game

A1 and B1 jump center. A1 ends up catching the jump ball. Nothing called. B1 coach is going crazy with the no call.

A1 scores a 2-point fg.

32 seconds into the game the official blows his whistle and stops the game. They take the points off the board and re-jump with the clock remaining at 7:28.

How should this have been handled assuming they did not call the violation. I think they should have let it go as is, but is this correctable?

The R or 1 of the Us should of whistled the play dead as soon as A1 caught the ball. Jump ball violation, award team B with the ball, AP to team A?
