Jump ball to start the game
Here is what happened:
A1 and B1 jump center. A1 ends up catching the jump ball. Nothing called. B1 coach is going crazy with the no call. A1 scores a 2-point fg. 32 seconds into the game the official blows his whistle and stops the game. They take the points off the board and re-jump with the clock remaining at 7:28. How should this have been handled assuming they did not call the violation. I think they should have let it go as is, but is this correctable? |
Took points off the board are you kidding me? This is no more correctable than thinking you missed a travel 32 seconds after it happened and trying to take points off the board between that point and the current. If they didn't call the violation too bad, play on.

Any idea what prompted the officials to make this adjustment after this long?
|
Man, that's what I call a delayed whistle!!!

If you're going to call the violation retroactively, give the ball to B and the arrow to A. If you're going to do it correctly, let the B coach know you missed it but it's time to move on. Warn and whack if necessary. It's true, some officials can be worked. I'm guessing B coaches didn't let up on these guys the whole game. |
Yikes.

The coaches have a right to be upset and express their opinions, but they have to do it the right way. |
They were probably just waiting to see the whole play.

It's Probably Too Late ???
Now that I think about it, I think I missed a out of bounds violation in my last varsity game, on Friday night. Yeah, I'm certain that I missed it. Can we go back and fix it.
