Not Very Memorable ...

I forgot to mention one in my previous post. Boys Catholic middle school game. I call a foul on A1 to which he responds, "F**k". I believe that he was mad at himself, but it was still an easy technical foul, which is probably why I forgot about it.

2 on players, both unsportsmanlike (1 JH in the fall, 1 JV, both boys)

1 in a BV game last week for reaching across the sideline and slapping the ball on a throw-in.

The only one involving a coach that I've had was last night in a 3-person BV game and one partner whacked the Home's HC in the 3rd quarter. I should have stuck a JH coach in a game in the fall but didn't pull the trigger.

dont know maybe 10-12

only 1 on a coach. 2 were administrative and the other 7-9 were on players for various reasons.

Just one on GV coach for telling his girls (loudly) to "just run over them, knock them out. They won't call anything." Said as I was reporting the third foul :45 seconds into the 1st quarter.

I might pass of the T and wait till a hard foul and assess a flagrant T

Oh - we also had to have a spectator removed for coming down on the floor between quarters to tell us what a good job we were doing!

Team technical foul.

OK, make that three.

B12 Rec League last night. TWEET! Green 12, hold. Wham! He slams the ball down on the court and way up in the air. WHACK!

As we're administering the T's I hear the coach say - "Son, you see that official there. He's a HS official. He's not gonna take any of that tonight."

Said with a sufficiently sarcastic tone, that would be another.

If he's actually warning his player, then we're good.

It wasn't sarcastic - but I get your point.

I'm the only state certified official in this league and try to help out once a week on Wed nights. The Coach is a fellow Rec League official when he's not coaching too - and we have worked together before.

He was just letting his guys know things might be a bit different tonight.....so, be careful.

You missed the thread on this one, but it's not a joke. Let's just say he's in the minority here.

It's supported by rule, but what's to stop me from putting on a home team sweatshirt when I'm a fan of the visiting team and acting like a jacka$$.

It's like dropping a nuclear bomb when a quick word to the AD, "Bill, get that chucklehead out of here," would suffice. And the fallout would be a lot less, too.

Right. Although the rule specifies "if its supporters act in such a way as to interfere with the proper conduct of the game." Some will have a higher bar for this standard than others, obviously.

I don't want to stir the pot but not only have I seen D1 games where the fans literraly have to almost hold the game up for some time before a T is given to the home team, and even high level baksetball games.

I think calling this T, for this reason, especially if you are being evaluated or looked at will spell doom for you. I mean the rules support a lot of crazy things if you want to do them, doesnt mean you have to.

Take for example a D1 game few years back where the HC had a heart attack during the game and was assessed a T for being on the court...NCAA said that the officials should have recindid the T. by rules though they were right and supported, but sometimes you need something called COMMON SENSE.

Adam Thu Jan 21, 2010 01:50pm

I'm pretty sure Nevada would rescind his T on the fan if it turned the fan was on the court due to a heart attack.
