3 this year... two on a coach for unsporting, one on a player for unsporting.

EDIT: these three were ones I've called, but had games where my partner has called one or two. Total for this combined this year is around 7 I believe.

First T of the season tonight to visiting HC.

JVB..physical game but the crew was consistent both ways.

Midpoint 2nd quarter I'm trail near benches when during deadball coach starts getting mouth. Says we need to call it both ways (foul count was 4-3), and wanted to know if I was going to stop calling cheap fouls.

WHACK.

He moaned the whole rest of the game but he was never loud or violated his seatbelt rule. One point I heard him say it was "all about us" referring to the officials and that's what I probably should have tossed him but didn't.

One point when his player was called for player-control (my call), he called timeout. After the TO, he goes, "Are we shooting free-throws?"

ME: No coach, it was player control against your team.

As I walk away I hear him say, "Sorry I asked."

I just kept walking. At that point he was hurting his team more than me throwing him out of the game and you really have to cross the line with me to get tossed.

This year 2 so far. Both for bad behavior by players.

1 in church league and 1 in a J.V. game.

My goal was zero, but I am still better than in the past. 1/2 of the season is over.

None at the varsity level, I do a fair amount of travel/mens/AAU ball and thanks to this site, my taking care of bidness quotient is way up.

I don't suffer fools lightly as the saying goes. I used to put up with too much nonsense, and I have to say every T has made the game better for all concerned. Probably have called 6-10, I don't keep count. Chased an assistant this past weekend in a feeder tourney with two. Well deserved.

Well, added one more tonight. T'd up a player during a boys Freshman game for profanely expressing his displeasure at a no call. While we're administering, his coach asked me what he said, I whispered it in his ear and the coach apologized profusely and yanked his player out. That coach exhibited a lot of class throughout the game. Didn't scream at his players. Discussed calls or non-calls rationally. I wish more were like him.

That is a great coach, I wish all of the were like him. Amen

Zero so far. I'm actually shocked....had npt thought about it until I saw the thread. I've utilized both the Warn/Whack and the Stop Sign approach to game management this year, after reading about it hear. Several Warns, more than a few Stop Signs....but no Whacks...yet.

umm 2 coaches T'd up, maybe about 5 players. probably a couple more- all for unsportsmanlike- Both coaches were on the floor jumping up and down- one directed at me, the other directed at a partner with his back turned. I don't really count and I call what I see and feel is warranted. I find these people who call between 0 and 2 technicals a year to be something of an oddity. Maybe players in Ontario are just poorly behaved, I dunno.

I have at times gone a year or two without a single T for unsportsmanlike behavior. Many times this took place because I was dealing with a lot of coaches that either knew me or were calm. And sometimes we get lucky by simply having games without much intensity or nothing unusual taking place. I also think the frequency of 3 Person games I work, it is not always necessary that me as an individual to give a T. If the question was how many games are you involved in with a T being called that number would go up. ;)

Peace

An entire season's worth in one night...

Up until last evening, I had only called one this season. It was on a player for a forearm in the back of an opponent during a dead ball. Last night's game, however allowed me to match my entire total for last season in one night. 4 on the home team in a BV game. 2 on the home team coach (and the ejection) and one each on two home team players for slapping the ball while in the hands of a player out of bounds for a throw in. Oh - we also had to have a spectator removed for coming down on the floor between quarters to tell us what a good job we were doing!

Aren't you fortunate?

Our GV "fan of the game" last night just kept telling us how well we were doing from the front row......all night long. Yap, yap, yap, yap.

In the fourth qtr during a timeout my P's andf I got together near the division line for a few words and he kept saying, "Hey, can I come out there and hear what your saying? Can I join in?"

What a pain in the a$$.....and his team won by 25!

Hehe, had a visiting team spectator like that last night also. As you said, yap yap yap. Not only was he a great official, he was also the head coach. I wouldn't be surprised if he was selling concessions and running the clock too, this guy could do it all!

You would've thought we were the worst officials he had ever seen...until his team took the lead. Then we were "improving". A truly impartial evaluation.

Educated Guess ???

Vinski Wed Jan 20, 2010 06:41pm

Pretty ho hum… 4 total. 1 admin T, 1 slapping the ball on the throw-in, 1 sportsmanship T on a visiting coach and 1 on a home coach.
