Inadvertent Whistle--add points
Tonight in the Cincinnati-Pitt game, this situation arose...
Shot clock is at 3, and a Pitt player puts up a shot that misses the rim. His teammate, standing under the basket, catches the ball and puts it in well before the horn goes off. Problem is, Jim Burr blew his whistle anticipating the shot clock violation. They now have an inadvertent whistle when Pitt should have two points. The crew confers, and I'm not sure they went to the monitor or not, but they ended up adding the basket to Pitt's total. Was this the correct way to handle the situation? |

If I remember correctly, his whistle came shortly after the release, so sounds like they got it right.

Edit: released and shot goes through the rim. |
