Fan misconduct in NBA

Read the following news article on Yahoo! a bit earlier today:

Fans throw foam on court in Lakers’ loss to Cavs
By GREG BEACHAM, AP Sports Writer
1 hour, 40 minutes ago

(article deleted)

After reading this article, what could of/should of been done differently, especially with this game being nationally televised, concerning crowd control from a floor official's POV?

1. Nothing since it sounds like they took care of business.

2. Quit saying "floor officials". There aren't any other officials on the court, not even the timer or shot clock operator.

Sorry am so used to hockey with the off-ice officials, it's a habit hard to get rid of.

Like I have mentioned in a previous post, I have been told in the past that those at the table are part of the officiating crew.

The table crew is part of the officiating crew. But they are not officials.

Also, a suggestion. Don't post copyrighted material. Just provide a link.

Gee BktBall Ref, you're spoiling all the fun....original post has already been reported as suspected violation of federal copyright law and notification sent to both Yahoo(R) and AP (R).......

Look up the term "Cagers" for BK players

Folks,

What happened in LA is no big deal.

Nobody got hurt, no damage was done, and some fans who got mad were going top be made because the Cavs crushed LA.

Passions overflow sometimes, especially when you are dealing with a ton of people in a place who have no clue as to what is going on on the floor. They boo, throw harmless fingers, except in one case (and he got caught), they leave.

Nobody likes having this happen, but in comparison to an Al-Queda guy trying to blow up an airliner over Detroit, this is no big deal.

Forgive, forget, move on.

Totally disagree. Anything being thrown onto a playing court/field by fans is a big deal. If you don't think so, you should try being on the floor as it's happening to get a good perspective on how harmless it is.

Obviously the officials should have called more fouls on Cleveland and fewer fouls on LA.

Then who are you differentiating when you use the term "floor officials?"

No, it's not a big deal compared to Al-Queda. But that doesn't mean it can't be discussed and that doesn't mean that it's appropriate.

Fans don't have any business throwing anything onto any playing court or field.
