Passions overflow sometimes, especially when you are dealing with a ton of people in a place who have no clue as to what is going on on the floor. They boo, throw harmless fingers, except in one case (and he got caught), they leave.
Nobody likes having this happen, but in comparison to an Al-Queda guy trying to blow up an airliner over Detroit, this is no big deal.

Totally disagree. Anything being thrown onto a playing court/field by fans is a big deal. If you don't think so, you should try being on the floor as it's happening to get a good perspective on how harmless it is.
