Better late than never

I have only been back in country for 1 month. I did everything I needed to get licenced in IL coming from IN. I have no schedule, do to being new to IL and so late in the season, but I call around and made myself available to fill in if anyone had someone bail out. Oddly enough I have had JV and Fresh-Soph almost immediately form making myself available. First JV game was Tue night and I got the call at 5:50pm. When I realized who was calling I was like "are you serious" it's 10min till, and the game was at 6pm. I had just sat down to dinner with my wife at Applebees. She was all for me going, and we left and headed to the school. The second quarter had started by the time I arrived and he was very happy to see me. The V coach was not playing very nice with him. I was in the game long enough to go from one end to the other and the H coach is upset about a call that was made before I even arrived. "He said I know you just got here but....." I looked over his direction and said " Are you kidding me"? He shock his head and didn't say another word the rest of the game. V blew them out. It felt good to be back in a HS again. I am working at the same place tonight in place of the guy who didn't show Tue. Just got a call for a JV/V tomorrow at a differnt place. I can't wait!

Talent will out...if you can call the game, you will get noticed and start getting more and more calls. Glad it's working out for you!

And glad you have an understanding wife!

Yeah, that wouldn't have gone over so well with mine; especially right after I got back from a deployment.

My wife is understanding.....but that situation would not have played well. Good for you! Hope your luck and schedule continue to be good!

Welcome to IL! There's quite a few of us here on the board. Are you in the Chicago area?
