This is exactly why it is important to switch on all fouls in the 2-man system.

If the crew doesn't, then we end up with one official being primarily on one end of the court judging the defense by one of the teams and the partner doing the same at the other end.

This was my immediate thought when I read the OP. I would only add that when you feel like there has not been a switch in some time it is good to force one so you aren't caught seeing the game as Nevadaref states.

Am I remembering wrong that the new FT mechanic requires the calling official to stay table side? So if you are T and call a shooting foul (or foul in bonus), you're not going to switch?

So that would be one reason why it's not always "important" to switch on all fouls in 2-man.

True. This is the new mechanic beginning this year.
However, in 2-man, most shooting fouls are called by the Lead, not the Trail, so this doesn't happen very often, and doesn't really undercut the point that switching is of the utmost importance in that system.
