Smitty pants

Back from a self-imposed exile just to ask a question of those of you who purchased Smitty basketball pants.

I bought 2 pair, same size. Seems one pair is about 1/2" bigger than the other (but they both will work). My concern/issue with them is the off-white color they use on the inner waistband. The tab in the center where you button the button tends to stick marginally (on me anyway) above the pants and I can see this off-white sliver at the top of my pants. Am I the only one that will notice this? Yes, I'm sure I am, but it bothers me.

Anyone notice this? If so, how did you blacken that little strip?

RMSN,
I really didn't notice that little white thing... but when they stretch I don't think it will show. They stretch and give a little during the first wearings and will fit better. I was a confirmed sansabelt man, but the Smittys wear very nicely and are just a tad lighter than the sansas. If you are really botheed by the white, get a black laundry marker and color it. The black from a laundry marker will never go away. Let me know what you do and if they stretch a tad whe you wear them more. rr

Don't worry about the pants, they'll ride up with wear.

Haven't pruchased their basketball slacks but I really like their football knickers.

Sansabelt has an off white inner ban. I've never noticed it showing.

But I do like the black inner belt in Honig's slacks.

About to hit purchase on a couple of Smitty Elite shirts, anyone have these? These are the "shiny" sort of wicking material correct? What are thoughts on wearing this shirt when your partners both have the old polyester? I think the new ones are sharp, but the colors do pop, not sure how it would look standing next to the older shirts.

I purchased a couple at the start of this season from Purchase Officials and found that the sizing varied quite a bit between the shirts. They seem to be running about a size small. I ended up returning them and going with a similar material shirts from Ump-Attire.

Correct. I think they look better than the older polyester shirts. I wouldn't worry too much about it otherwise.

Rich, I purchased a couple of the Smitty pants and haven't noticed the waist band issue you're talking about. There's about a quarter inch of black material on the inside top of the waist band but nothing shows when I'm wearing them. I like these pants for the most part, but my one complaint is that they made the legs a bit baggy for my taste. I noticed this on another official's pants as well and he wears a smaller size than I do.

Ump-Attire

Good stuff, good people, and a 60 day no questions asked return policy.

Even if you've had pants altered (at the very least had the raw edge hemmed)?

As I have stated before, I have been a confirmed sansabelt man... but ordered 2 pair of Smittys to try this season. I really like them and am of the opinion that these are dang good pants. They feel great. Just remember that there is some give in the waist when they are brand new.

Totally, agree, the Smittys are a lighter material which I think works esp in hot gyms. I used to be a Honigs guy and they make great pants but I'm all Smitty now.

I do have a tailor reinforce the buttons and hem the length regardless of the brand.

While packing my bag last night I took another look and sure enough, I see the white patch you're talking about on the center flap. I don't think it will be an issue but I'll check in the mirror while in uniform tonight. Maybe a black laundry marker is in order.

I wore the pants last night in a preseason tune-up.

Very comfortable. I probably could've gone an inch (they come in odd sizes up to a certain size) smaller, but I didn't have to Welmer at all during the game.

I did notice how baggy the pants are from the knee down, though. Surprising and I wonder how that looks when I run.

Light, comfortable. I'd buy them again, although I'd be even happier with a more tapered leg.

Glad I'm not the only one to noice it. It honestly bugs me a bit but my wife said the pants look fine. I feel kind of like I'm wearing pantaloons though.
