Great story Billy! Kinda restores your faith in mankind a bit after some of the craziness and sadness in the world today. Thanks for sharing.

"Yes, it was staged, but the Avon kids made it look real," Nick's mom, Lisa, said. "For me, heaven opened up and the angels said this is going to be OK."

And how did it feel living your dream?

"It actually hurt a little bit," said Nick, who'll turn 17 on Oct. 15. "But it felt great."

I wonder if it felt all that "great" after the Nick read the article.

I got the impression Nick knew about it before the article came out. He had to have seen the Avon players cheering after the TD, and the Avon coach made sure Nick's family was comfortable before making his comments.

"I'm beginning to think the only person who didn't know about all this was me," Nick said.

Post-game interview seems to make it clear the light went on at some point for Nick.
