Game Film

Has anyone ever requested and been granted a copy of the game film in order to watch yourself?

This probably only applies to varsity refs but the question stands

Yes, I usually arrange with the AD prior to obtain a copy. When I arrive at the gamesite, I hand the AD a dvd/vhs in a self addressed envelope.

Rarely do I get a tape that is provided by the school and often I do not like their tapes because you cannot see the officials or who made calls. And you really do not see the reporting to the table which I feel is very important. I mostly have information from games I taped myself (had someone do it for me) and that is the best training tool because I can have myself and the officials focused on during dead ball and other activities.

Peace

In years past, I would get 1 out of every 6 gms & a bunch of excuses
And by the time I did get it, I had forgot some plays & what I wanted to specifically look at.

Now I bring my own equipment to the games & the recommended viewing within 48 hours is not a problem anymore

I've had a variety of experiences. A couple of high school coaches have mentionned that they would give me a copy but not one has ever kept his word. I don't keep bugging them about it either.

Yet at the college level I've received lots of tapes from coaches, supervisors etc...

My best source is at one small college where the video guy is a former official. He's alaways making copies for us without asking. We usually have in our hands by the time we've showered. He's great.

I have requested game film once or twice from the schools that I know are filming. But on the NCAA level, I try to get as much game film as possible.
