online test

The state of Louisiana is giving the rules test online for the first time this year.
We had our sign up meeting last night, and according to our assignor, these are the details. Test is 50 questions. You log in and have one hour to complete the test. Your score will then be posted immediately. Here's the part I found unbelievable. If you happen to receive a less than passing grade, (70%) you are free to take the test again, as many times as necessary. You have two weeks. Is this done anywhere else?

JAR - Interesting.

Here's the verbatim msg I got last year from our league official:

"The VHSL test has started, you may only take the test once if you score an 80 or above and if you score below an 80 you can only retest one additional time."

So, as far as I know, that's not how VA did it last yr.

In our part of Virginia, you can login to the VHSL test as many times as you want during the open test period. As long as you dont submit the test, you can change the answer and make corrections. This will be our second year doing the online testing.

The test has went from officials sitting in a room silently without books to gathering at someone's house with wireless, laptops and discussion...and our officiating hasn't noticeably improved.

I'm more concerned about the consistent application of the rules than I am about the method used to take the test.

We can start with you and me. First order of business is understanding we must apply the rules according to the spirit of the rule and not word for word.

Here in MI, I think it's 70% passing (yikes!) and you get three tries.

Lowest bidder gets the contract, so why not lowest score on the test gets the highest profile games.

I thought that up in Wasilla, where you are, lowest score on a test means you get to be Governor.

No, not at all. The requirement to be governor of "The Last Frontier", is that you have to be able to see Russia from your backyard, and you also have to possess the skill to shoot a wolf from a flying helicopter.

Not a requirement, but it does get you brownie points. Don't forget a moose must have died at your hands as well.

How about the woman in the middle. Can she be your governor?
