Question Pro rules question

I was watching a WNBA game tonight on the tube (actually, it was quite entertaining) and I noticed twice there was a kicked ball call and in neither instance was the shot clock reset. Somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind, I thought there was an NBA rule that the shot clock got reset on a kick and if so, I wondered why that was not the case for the WNBA.

Do any of you rules gurus know the rule in either league? Thanks.

Well, you could bother the rules gurus on here, or you could just do a google search!

WNBA adopts new rules

WNBA adopts new rules

Dec. 6, 2005 02:00 PM The Women's National Basketball Association is shortening its shot clock to 24 seconds from 30 seconds to speed up games and increase scoring.

The new rule was among three adopted by the WNBA. The format of games will change, with contests split into four 10- minutes quarters instead of two 20-minute halves. The league also is eliminating jump balls other than the opening tipoff.

The changes were recommended by the WNBA's Competition Committee and were approved by the board of governors today, the league said in a news release.

As in the men's NBA, the shot clock will be reset to 14 seconds when a foul or other defensive infraction is committed with less time remaining. It won't change when a defensive violation occurs with 14 seconds or more left on the shot clock.

With the switch in formats, each team will be limited to four fouls a quarter before the opposition is sent to the foul line for two free throws.

Thanks. I thought it might be something like that. The first time, the kick came with exactly 14 seconds on the shot clock and the second time it came with 18 seconds. I didn't see any other kicks called during the game.

So snarky comments in a WNBA thread of a basketball officials forum indicate more of a life than watching the WNBA?

So, commenting on a snarky comment in a WNBA thread of a basketball officials forum indicates more of a life than making the snarky comment?

Oh wait. This could backfire on me.
