Bench decorum has plenty to do with the actual playing of the game. I'm all for going back to the f88king sit their a77es down rule or give them the college box because I'm tired of reliving my offensive lineman days on coaches who stand too damn close to the sideline, and they have a wimpy 6-foot box to stand in!

Maybe the tech was really for the coach's uniform?

The reason there wasn't a penalty last year was because it was found so many schools didn't comply with the new uniform rules. The IHSA felt that a technical foul was too harsh for every player and basically gave waivers to all schools. Therefore, the uniform rule last year was suspended until the NFHS Rules Committee could review the rule.
