end of game

Player takes a 3pt try at end of game which goes through the bucket. The covering official and other officials do not hear horn due to crowd noise. Referee goes to table, the official timer said the horn did go off. When questioned by the referee, he said the ball was released before the horn sounded. The NFHS book says the table officials must be consulted. Who constitutes the table officials? Does this now mean the official scorer must be consulted and the visiting scorer?

If the Timer said the that ball was released before the horn sounded, then the R must count the basket.

List at least two alternate dates.

2-13: If the timer’s signal fails to sound, or is not heard, the timer shall go onto the court or use other means to immediately notify the referee. If in the meantime, a goal has been made or a foul has occurred, the referee shall consult the timer:
ART. 1 . . . If table officials agree that time expired before the ball was in flight, the goal shall not count.
ART. 2 . . . If table officials agree that the quarter or extra period ended, as in 5-6-2 before the foul occurred, the foul shall be disregarded, unless it was
intentional or flagrant.
ART. 3 . . . If table officials disagree, the goal shall count and/or the foul shall
be penalized, unless the referee has knowledge which alters such ruling.

2-1: GAME AND TABLE OFFICIALS
ART. 2 The game officials shall be a referee and an umpire or a referee and
two umpires who shall be assisted by an official timer and scorer.
ART. 3 The scorer and timer shall be located at the scorer’s and timer’s
table on the side of the court. It is recommended that the official scorer and timer be seated next to each other.

Interesting side note somewhat on topic here - Missouri is having all district tournament sites this year use a starter's pistol at the time the horn goes off. Some gyms are so loud it is almost impossible to hear the horn.

So, BillyMac is it your opinion that the both official timer, and official scorer must agree the goal is good or no good? Additionally if they disagree the goal is good? No other table personal are consulted??

The effect of the rules is that as soon as one person says that the basket counts, then the basket will count.

We already had a couple of shootouts inside a few gyms. Thankfully no one was injured.

My opinion doesn't matter here. The rules do matter. Yes. Yes. Yes. All answers assume that the referee has no knowledge which alters such rulings.
