Next game teams warming up on field during game

Something new this weekend. Seems nuts, but curious if you run into this in your area. 30 team tourney in San Antonio, local custom is for teams playing next to warm up ON THE PLAYING FIELD in the large foul areas down right field and left field foul lines. Also to warm up in deep left and right fields on the fair side of foul lines (300 feet fences.)

This is taking place while a game is in progress. I'm talking full scale warmups with soft toss batting into nets set up, equpment bags strewn about. One game the soft toss net was about 40 feet beyond first on the right field foul line where an errant throw from F5 would go. First bracket game I asked Blue what happens when all that activity interfers with the play. He said they would put the runners where they needed to be. I didn't press it further.

Murphy's law is bound to kick in with this setup.

This tourney was run by San Antonio Parks and Rec Dept.

Stupid. Everything should be kept out of live ball territory.

Somebody should mention to the Park and Recs director the liability he will be exposed to if some player warming up takes a screaming foul ball off the head. That should put a stop to it.

... Just re-read your post; is all of this beyond, say, 225 feet into the DEEP areas of foul / fair territory? If so, what age level is this? 12U or below rec leagues, probably not a realistic problem.

Missed your other question. No, they were not deep into those corners. One set up would definitely have had F3 or F4 eating a bat if chasing a foul pop.

It was an 18U tourney with a few so called exposure teams.

Sounds dangerous. Someone should point out the city's liability exposure by allowing this to continue.

Here we use some parks with 300 foot fences..... one of those parks has NO warm-up area...... if its 10-12year olds...no issue with letting teams warm up in the far corners..... but no older.

If we have the collapseable fences, we allow teams to warm up beyond them..
but there should be noone in live ball territory for an 18u game. ever.

Warming up beyond the temporary fences is fairly commonplace around here.
