You make the call

A friend of mine who knows I'm a ref stopped me today and asked my opinion about this play:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agenl3kuWsI

He particularly wanted to know about the offensive player's (seemingly) gaining some extra height off the defender's shoulder.

The call on the floor seems to have been a block, since they're lining up for FTs. Your call?

I think block was the correct call. It is close, but it seems there is one last move toward the shooter after he left the ground.

I don't see any reason to go OOO on this one. Block or charge, nothing more.

It looks to me like the defender had LGP prior to the offensive player going airborne. It didn't appear to be a flop and contact was on the shoulder. The offensive player did not get his head or shoulders around the defender. I'm going with PC. Not only that, but you might have a case for a T on number 3 in white for taunting. Would any of you call the T in this case?

But, already discussed here.

Should have been a PC foul. And a T for taunting.

We discussed this here not too long ago. I think it's an obvious PC. At the minimum, I'd also have a talk with #3.

But I still think he got there before the player went airborne. The extra movement you see was just the player squaring up to take the contact. He moved his outside foot closer. This in no way moved him closer to the player. Of course, we have the luxury of seeing this in slow motion and we can re-run it. I don't blame the official for coming up with a block. I still think its PC.

Agree with PC, it would be nice to see this from the ref's angle and perspective. Even with the block call, why is nothing being done by the taunting behavior by members of the white team???
