Spoke Too Soon

Drat. Double Drat. Nice big-school F/JV doubleheader tonight. They just called to cancel .
Or maybe they just found out they were getting me and told me that to blow me off while my partners do a couple of two-man games.

Rare Friday night off for me. I had a good BV last night, though. Home up by 18 with 6 minutes left. Wouldn't you know, we ended up in OT. Home team pulled it out. I have a D3 tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait to drive the Mass Pike in a blizzard!

As someone who grew up in Chicago, I can tell you I don't miss the snow at all. However, it snowed here in Portland on about 12 different days this winter already. That's usually about how many snow days we get in 18 years (not kidding - normal is about 2 days every 3 years). Fortunately, the weather forecasters think we're done for this winter. Yeah - they've been so accurate so far.

BTW - we might get some more rain.

Time to curl up with a warm fire and read some good fiction.........maybe a global warming tale?

Oh the memories of Chicago snow storms and the games go on....

My worst one, I worked just west of OHare and had a game at Warren Twp in Gurnee at 7pm. I left the office at 3 pm for a 40 mile drive. I just made tip off at 7:10 due to the Sophmore game going long. Big wreck at Lake Cook road and again at Rt 60.

I don't miss the traffic one bit but do miss the Cubs!

I've actually got a rare, Fri. evening girl's game with a team from the Chicago area. The weather's fine down here in central IL; I hope the other team makes it down here.

Really! When's the last time the White Sox won the World Series. When's the last time anyone on the Cubs could even spell World Series?

I'll be going opposite direction tonight, live/work in Gurnee (basically), going to Schaumberg..not snowing yet, debating if I should not push my luck and just hit the road now.. I know everyone thinks they have the worst traffic..I won't say Chicago is the worst, but I will say I pity those who have it worse!

Tripleheader for me. JH Varsity (aka freshman) boys at 4, JH JV (aka 8th grade) at 5, HS JV at 6:30. School 5 miles from my house, which is nice. $121 cha-ching!

Three youth games tomorrow, almost certain to be cancelled by storm moving through the Northeast.
