Holiday Tournaments

How did everyone do during the holiday torunaments? Did anyone make any great calls? Did anyone set a screen on the dribbler? (Inside joke for M&M Guy!) Anyone see any great teams?

I did a game where I called a guy for a travel. He told me I was nuts and that "[he] is a superstar."

I told him his moves remind me of a crab.

If M&M was in any way involved in this sort of play, we need to know about it so we can remind him of it on a regular basis.

I did two days back-to-back from 6am-1am calling 4 games and watching a ton more. I was able to see a bunch of fellow officials I hadn't seen in a while and catch up with them! It was a great time but I was dead tired after it was all over.

So, a screen, huh?

I don't know what the heck he's talking about.

And, if he brings up an inadvertant whistle on a phantom back court violation, I don't know what he's talking about there either.

As far as the screen, the way I heard it was there was an inbounds play where the player receives the pass inbounds, then starts to dribble up the sideline. However, the dribbler didn't see the perfect screen set up right in front of them. The screener had good position, and allowed for time and distance before the contact. The dribbler was good enough to play through the contact, kept the dribble, and circled around the screen and continued down the floor.

(Um, the screener happened to be the official on that side of the floor who had a brain fart and was not moving fast enought to become the new L. I also heard that official bears a resemblance to me. But, that's just what I heard...)

Sounds to me like your team has open communications and good post-game discussions!

I called my Sister in Aspen and my other Sister in Park City, telling them I'll be out there in March. Great calls.

If, by "open communications" you mean "snickering at your partners' misfortune", then absolutely!

I had never laughed so hard on the floor in my life. The look on M&M Guy's face was priceless! I had no idea someone's face could turn so red!

This happened to my partner (thankfully, not to me!) in a college game this past weekend. Only difference is that it was not a throw-in, it was a defensive steal. B2 read the pass perfectly, tipped the ball toward his own basket, took two steps to chase it down, and ran smack into my 6'4"/250 partner who was the Trail (I was Center). A1 calmly retreats to his backcourt and recovers the ball.

I'm guessing B's coach wasn't laughing as hard as M&M's partners.
