Pre - Game

The season is starting out and there really are very few changes as far as the NCAA goes and I also High school.
So what are you going through or going to go through in your pre-game to start the year.

how much do you depend on your pre-game?
do you change it, or is it the same no matter
who's playing,
the level,
partners?

I don't have to give one for a couple more weeks right now so I am looking for some ideas.

I love a good pregame. It gets my mind focused. Helps establish communication between partners. Lets us discuss trouble issues like press coverage or other things. I think too often people skip pregames, either becuase they've worked with the partner so many times before its old hat or they never developed the discipline to do a good one. I wish I could say I always did one and was always consistent. I'm not. Often times the partner has no interest, so I dont force it. And yes, sometimes you just do a quick one as that is better than none at all. But if I have my preference, we do a full pregame. I think they are invaluable. And dont skip a good halftime discussion either about end of game issues and any needed adjustments or concerns from the first half.

But then I didnt need to tell you any of that, did I?

I will be focusing more on mechanics then rules. More like late season pre-games. Also, latter in the season I sneak in prior year changes just for something different. We work three man and I have four officials on my crew.

Early in the season I like to do the official points of emphasis, that usually trails off as the season goes along. I imagine we will all do a good bit of discussion about free throw lane spaces every pregame this season.
