In those days (I have it on reliable authority), the more common word was 'scalawag'. Nowadays, he'd just be a 'scally'.

WTF is going on here?!?! I start a completely basketball-related thread about a great story -- D3 beating D1 -- and you guys take it off-topic with references to JurassicReferee, Old English (the language, not the furniture polish, I'm guessing), Naismith and peach baskets, and etymology?!?!

Keep up the good work!!

Hey. How come you didn't quote me? Am I not doing good work also? I thought my references to a "shouldering call" and whacking the good doctor for the "Reprobate" insult made my post a classic. One for the Forum, off topic, humor archives, maybe good enough for the Forum Off Topic Humor Hall Of Fame. I did an internet search for 19th century insults, and went through Dr. Naismith's original thirteen rules, to make my post authentic. A lot of hard work went into my post. And any reference to Mark T. DeNucci, Sr.'s age automatically makes it funny.

Tried it. Didn't work. Just like the Viagra.

Wait a second! You can change the topic of a thread now? Now that's cool!

Hey. I work hard on those titles. I'm not a very creative person, like Mark Padgett, so it's hard work for me. Nice "News at 11" title. I wish I had thought of that one.

I didn't do it. Is it possible that the thread title was moderated? If it was, then I have to say PLEASE STOP!! PLEASE!!

I'm going to withhold further ranting, in case there's another explanation. But if it was moderated, I think that's completely inappropriate.

I don't think it's too bad if all that was done was a change to the title.

I confess that I did it. For some reason though (probably user error), I didn't see the change I made this moring, so I thought it didn't work. Now I see that it has.

Had I seen the change this morning, I would have changed it bak, then suggested it as a way to deal with two "competing" concerns -- (a) "let us have some fun" and (b) "OT threads are okay; but OT posts within threads aren't". I was goign to try to add the "OT" phrase to threads that were no longer germane to the topic being discussed.

So, I'll attempt to remove my topic edit, but then still make the above suggestion.
