The status of the ball (live / dead) and the staus of the clock (running / stopped) have nothing to do with each other.

You can have:

- live ball / running clock ("normal play")
- live ball / stopped clock (throw-in or FT)
- dead ball / running clock (after a basket)
- dead ball / stopped clock ("normal" stoppages)

Don't forget the jump ball in the live ball/stopped clock category. In fact, there are only three ways to get a dead ball live, and all three of them begin with a live ball and a stopped clock.

Live Ball/Clock Stopped already made sense, but now
I get Dead Ball/Clock Running as well.

And I have that warm fuzzy welcome wagon feeling.
