Jersey switch?

The other night, I was told this story by a guy who used to officiate in a different state (Ohio). He said this happened at a varsity HS game he was working a few years ago. Apparently, there is a team whose school colors are crimson and white. Sometimes they wear crimson jerseys on the road, sometimes they wear black. They have sets of each in addition to white home jerseys. In this game, they were getting clobbered early and at halftime, they switched from their crimson to their black jerseys. All the players kept the same numbers. This official and his partner (two person crew) really didn't know what to do since the numbers were not switched. They asked the home coach if he had any objection and he said he didn't, so they went ahead and played the second half that way. As you might have guessed, it didn't help much and they still lost big time. The official said the most confusing thing was trying to figure out why they brought the two sets of jerseys with them in the first place.

Any thoughts? Would you have allowed it?

Jersey Switch? Exit 13 Instead Of Exit 15 ...

Great question. I would allow it, especially since the score was lopsided, and the opposing coach had no problem with it, and I can't find a rule that says they can't switch. If the score were close, and/or the opposing coach did have a problem with it, again, I can't find a rule, other than, possibly 2-3, that would not allow the switch.

I am going to assume this was the visiting team. If that is the case, I would let it go. I would not even have asked the other coach. All I would have told the scorer to let me know if someone does not have the same number. If everything else is good, it is not technically against the rules.

Peace

Ya' know, one thing I didn't ask him was what color shorts they were wearing. He didn't say they switched shorts. Maybe their shorts were crimson and black. I know if it was a girls team, they wouldn't put together a combination that wasn't fashionable.

Who cares? There is no rule requirement regarding short color.

Last season, I had a girl show up for a 6th grade rec game. She was wearing her uniform and also a long sleeved jersey that had dots on it, full length tights with stripes and a headband with stars. All the colors were different. I said to her, "Who dressed you this morning - Dr. Seuss?" Her mom laughed.

It makes no difference if they switch from red to green to blue if they like.
