Question Are players human?

There's a commercial for the movie "Air Bud" about a dog who plays basketball in which the referee says, "there's no rule that says a dog can't play". NF 4-34-1 says "A player is one of five team members who are legally on the court at any given time, except intermission." Apparently, the official is right - there is no rule that says a dog can't play because it doesn't define player as necessarily having to be a human.

I'm going to the park this afternoon to teach my dog how to dunk. The fact that he travels all the time certainly wouldn't affect him playing in the NBA!

Just be careful under NFHS rules. You know how Mary Struckoff feels about the barking dog play

There's no rule saying a coach can't be a howler monkey, either.

I thought that was a requirement.
