You cannot disqualify the technical free throws (free throws 3 & 4) b/c they were shot properly. It's free throws 1 & 2 that would be corrected.

One more thing. Shooting free throws in the incorrect order is not a correctable error.

OK.....semantics. I thought you were saying that the free throws should simply be thrown out.

Yes, agreed, but that's what happened in our game. All 4 free throws were reshot and the last second of the game replayed.

If they catch the correctable error within the prescribed time limits, which they didn't, they could have re-shot the 2 FT's for the original foul. What they can never do is replay the last second. Any time consumed, points scored, etc. between the error and catching it doesn't get nullified.

if either of the officials had gone to the concession stand to get some water, or gone to use the little girls'/boys' room, would that count as leaving the "visual confines"? I almost always step out of the gym for one reason or another between games like this.

jgg said that the one official couldn't be found and they had to expend some energy to get them together. Seems like that fact would be a strong hint at someone having left the "visual confines".

The problem with that theory is, the way I read the rules anyway, all officials have to leave the visual confines.

Maybe this would be a good time to take advantage of the lack of rules knowledge of the coaches?

No, I didn't say that. The officials were in their rest area between the bleachers behind the scorers table when the ruckus started. Both of them were there.

Yea, I see where I mis-read what you said. Sorry. Okay, so from now on the officials need to step into the hall after every game, just to cut into this crap.

Or just cut it off once the next two teams start their warmups, or when the clock starts counting down to the next game.
